Capreolus Fine Foods has been named as one of the 3 finalists in the 'Best Food Producer' category of this year's BBC Food & Farming Awards. There were over 6,000 nominations for this year's awards and we are very excited to make it to the last 3! The other finalists are:
Gigha Halibut from the island of Gigha in the Hebrides who farm the increasingly rare Atlantic Halibut and then smoke the fish over oak chips made from whisky barrels from the Kilchoman Distillery on Islay
Abernethy Butter from County Down in Northern Ireland who make hand-made butter from local cream. Their butter has gained almost mythical status amongst many of the top chefs in the UK
The judges (Sheila Dillon and Valentine Warner) visited us recently and we think that they had a good time; though for obvious reasons they were giving nothing away! All we know is that we were the first of the finalists that they visited. The results will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 1st May in Bristol.
